Babos and VCORE Spin Towards Victory at WTA Final

Date
30 October 2018

Singapore – Nine of Yonex finest athletes descended upon the WTA Finals Singapore with the sole purpose of hoisting the trophy over their heads after the dust settled on the final match. Although brilliant plays litered social media and news outlets throughout each heated round, the pairing of Timea Babos (HUN) and Kristina Mladenovic (FRA) proved set on success. The duo broke top seed Barbora Krejcikova (CZE) and Katerina Siniakova (CZE) in the final match, 6-4, 7-5, capturing the Women’s Doubles title.

Overwhelming powerful serve and high spin drives of Babos, coupled with speedy net play of Mladenovic provided the perfect winning combination. As if perfectly in synch, they triumphantly embraced as their opponent’s return crashed into the net to thundering applause. The pair’s stellar season ended just as it began, with a big win on one of the grandest of stages.

Coco Vandeweghe (USA) and Andrea Hlavackova (CZE) also had a great showing at the finals. Both, with their respective partners, pushed through to the semi-finals concluding another chapter as Yonex celebrated achieving the No. 1 racquet use ratio throughout the WTA Finals, with nine out of the total twenty-four athletes using Yonex racquets.
